Scholarships for Nepal

Started in 1988, this program has been helping promising Nepalese students from low-income families to attend good schools.

The government schools of Nepal do not offer quality education, teaching children by rote, rather than through critical thinking.

By finding motivated young Nepalese students and offering them a better education, we empower them with the tools to improve their own lives, and the future of their country.

Looking Forward

We have many more students needing financial assistance for education, and we would like to purchase more computers to help with remote learning. Nepal is in an emergency lockdown situation with the pandemic. This means the students must study online until schools are reopened. Most of our students do not have computers at home, so this has stalled their studies. Buying laptops and paying for internet is beyond their means, and we plan to help.

Enabling Success

Proving their intelligence and dedication, our scholarship recipients have attained degrees in nursing, accounting, computer science, and social work, among other fields.
The scholarships include money for tuition, exam fees, school supplies, computers, school uniforms, and school lunches.
Since the Covid pandemic, assistance has also been provided for basic living and medical necessities.

Heartfelt Connections

​The students are selected through the personal and professional network of project leader Christine, who lived in Kathmandu for 13 years. She is connected with many families who cannot afford the cost of private school, but are highly motivated to provide an education for their bright young children. Beyond financial support, knowing the home environment and background of the students makes a big difference in their ability to make good use of a scholarship.
